Oh what a glorious day filled with bacon and beer.
I was so excited to learn that Sacramento has a whole week dedicated to bacon! This week was the 4th annual Sacramento Bacon Fest celebrating all things bacon from January 19th to 25th.
Our first stop was Track 7 Brewing for their Bacon Firkin Burnt Fog Smoked Porter with Cherrywood Smoked Bacon…oh delicious. Nicely smoked porter with just a hint of meaty bacon. Drewski’s Food Truck had a whole array of specialized bacon dishes. The smoked bacon mac and cheese balls were to die for. Lightly fried coating with oozing mac and cheese amazingness.
Next up was Oak Park Brewing for their Pork Belly + Egg + Toast bacon fest inspired dish. They posted a photo of it on Facebook and I just had to have it. It was everything I thought it would be and more. The boiled egg was breaded, fried and still had the amazing running yolk. The pork belly was so soft and luscious. It was one of the best I have ever had. Great excuse to visit again and see how they are developing. The 35th Street Porter was wonderful as before and the Citra IPA was so fresh and lively. Excited to try more from them.
Can’t wait for next years Sac Bacon Fest to try more bacon inspired dishes and craft beer pairings. With over a 100 restaurants, pairings, and events we will defiantly be going to more than two places next year.
